I just don't get inflation... it's just... beyond me. There's so much fetish art on DA that just... makes no sense to me. Vore, Inflation, male pregnancy, Yiff, muscle-bound children... yes, people are going to use their 'imaginations' to transcend physical (and rational) limitations... but it's still just over my head. I like to feel I have a pretty liberal conception on what constitutes art, I'm not a prude, and though it has a place I'm sure, I just hate when I happen to stumble upon that kind of content on DA. You can say "Don't like, don't look" but it still doesn't change the fact that it's copious enough that I will inevitably run into something I can't un-see.

That is all.

DISCLAIMER: to those of you who are sensitive and find this offensive, don't. I know this obviously reeks of condemnation, but I'm simply stating my utter frustration with the use of this site. Whether or not you feel condemned is up to you at this point.

I've never had a problem with those kind of pictures/artworks, I simply skip, but according to me DeviantArt need some redefinition of the word "art". Art is not the ability to draw well, shoot nice photographs etc. and it's not even the ability to express yourself, but it's the will to develop a "system" of meanings.

I concur completely. I mean, I don't consider what I upload here to be... 'art' specifically, but that's also due to my discourse on the definition of art. :/

I agree, I hate when I search a character from something and more than half of the most popular things are just disturbing junk.

Some people have broader definitions of art. Don't let it upset you, Lyd. Castiboy once told me he came across a sculpture of a male buttocks spread where you could see the anus, and was surprised that it was sculpted by Salvador Dali.

Oh. TRUST me, I have a very broad (with standards) sense of what exactly constitutes art. This year we briefly studied an artist, Zhu Yu, who under took a statement by consuming a baby. It was still-born, and then deep-fried, but as a statement and with the accompanying sociological implications... I found it to be moving emotionally, but also gastronomically (i.e. I wanted to puke).

I have very broad senses of art, I LOVE innovation and boundary expansion... but since half the stuff on this site does little of that... I can't say I consider it art... not to say my word is final, but I simply don't.

The only thing that bugs me are the erotic female pictures that are posted as 'artistic nudes,' when clearly the studio producing the pictures is doing it more for pornographic reasons.

As for the odd stuff that promotes odd fetishes, IDK. I've never drawn... erm, 'sexy' pictures. Maybe I just don't understand.

And Zhu Yu seems interesting. Have you heard of Chris Burden? He's a performance artist who does some bizarre shit as well, lol.

Erotic anything disturbs me. I can't deny I've looked at porn, it's something I don't want in my life, but I've seen full on porn photo's on DA, minimally edited and masqueraded as originally produced photos. I want nothing more than to take those users down.

I'll have to check him out.

I do wish that kind of stuff was kept separate from this site.
