So I came across this tumblr account,
[link] which is an admittedly wonderful and tasteful collection of high-quality pokemon art from around the web... but much akin to a majority of Tumblr bloggers there's but a brief note saying "disclaimer: i own none of the artwork posted here! all credit goes to the original artist(s)."
The problem I have with this, I've been combing through and haven't found any of
my work, is that this blog
could serve to give exposure to these artists as the blogger clearly has a huge following, but the artists don't receive any accolades. It showcases art without artists, and the MAIN thing I have against tumblr is that if the blogger doesn't accurately source their material there is no information (that I can perceive) that links images to their source or original file name.
I don't know if there's anything that can be done here short of contacting the owner and/or owners or work used in the blog and asking how they feel (since he's not really claiming to have made them nor is he receiving money) but without knowing how the TOS works on Tumblr... I guess I'm asking those of you who use tumblr if this is actually acceptable... cuz I'm not so fine with it. :/
Totally agree though, a link to the artist would be good, because it's pretty much like the tumblr owner's all "Oh I like this art let me just take it and show it off"
Though it's a shame... I reaaaaallly want to find some of the creators... though a google image search could take care of that... though tumblr sort of throws a monkey wrench in the process somehow.
of course, tumblr is one of those sites that has a wide spectrum of image blogging, from simple posts of just a picture or a gif file to some more in depth stuff. i dont have a tumblr account but my sis does
hope you resolve this problem soon >.<
But it's probably a fruitless battle as the images on tumblr get reblogged so fast... it's almost impossible to stop the flow. :/
