I won't be here... almost ALL summer. And I'm so excited!

I'm going to be working for a camp for kids with ADHG in North Carolina. It goes until August and I will not have regular, if any, time for the internet. What a great opportunity. Facing an utter lack of community, stimulation, and excitement (aside from the Flashmob I co-directed with my friend Katie) I've spent hours every day on my computer, and have gotten so little done. I've made little strides here and there, but largely have accomplished nothing. That lack of fulfillment made it harder to start doing anything.

Having seen how much the real world sucks without something to get you up in the morning has really created a yearning in me for something more. Some constructive, creative, challenging time away from my computer is going to stimulate and cultivate that sense of purpose!

Though I'm still not packed nor do I have all my supplies, I'm so excited for how this experience will change me! I'm excited for a vacation from myself!

See you in August!

BOTTOM (balls, thought i updated this to re-submit so it might be too late. Voting ends at 12, 10 minutes! D: )
So my friend is in a band called Lila Ignite. They're in a facebook competition to open for Motley Crue in an upcoming show. They're lagging a bit behind, but could really use a boost. If any of you have facebook and wouldn't mind supporting them, the band and myself would surely appreciate it. So vote Lila Ignite, it's at the top! [link]</strike>

THEY DID IT! Thanks guys. Not sure if it was THIS journal that did it, but they slid into third at the LAST minute, which means from the top 3 Motley Crue will select the band they want to open for them! WHEW!

Thanks for your help, and sorry to ad-spam! D:

So the issue's been resolved. If everyone who forwarded the last journal would please delete it, copy pasting the link is what's keeping the reddit thread alive. Let it die, let the kid fade back into obscurity.

And next time, there shouldn't be one if I've learned a lesson, LISTEN and don't add your input. Some dip-tard actually posted a link to one of the journals to try and intimidate the kid. It was stupid, and I told you guys not to comment.

That being said, I also want to thank you. I felt really encouraged to see so many people show support, so although I'd like to give some of you a smack, I'd also like to give you a popsicle to make up for it. c:

So I'm gonna start a sketch blog. Just a place to uplaod what I'm working on. Stuff I don't much want to upload to DA and such. I'm thinking blogspot, but for stuff like that ,what other blog-sites do you guys use and recommend? I want it to be fairly informal, but not really tumblr informal. I want feedback to be easy, and such. Plus, although I have a tumblr account, I'm not sure I want to use it. I'm looking for an interface that's less based on image-consumption, and more interaction. Um... yeah. Less formal, but still intelligent.

SO LEMME HAVE IT!

SYLVION-----------
So it hasn't even been a week, and we don't even know it's official type... and I think I already hate it.

Every 5th deviation that pops up in my feed, it seems, is FUGGIN' SYLVEON. And I'm sick of it's NAUSEATING FACE! It's become the Greenday of pokemon, where there's really nothing wrong with it, but it's over exposure just makes it haggard and cumbersome to experience.

Thankfully Greenday and I are cool again. Perhaps Sylveon and I can one day becomes bros as well. But for now, STAHP! I'm surprised there hasn't been a Sylveon/Harlem Shake cross-over yet.

Why can't I make you work? You're like facebook, I'm like a mom, I just CAN'T figure you out!

Does anyone else find GIMP's interface just... odd? I can't do the simplest things, like pour color with the paintbucket, expand the working region, or even move selections. Its SOOO frustrating, especially since I know the possibility is so close.

I understand and appreciate that it's a free program, but it's like a parody of photoshop with it's feaures spun around to avoid copyright by Adobe, and it's just... GAH! I don't know if it's the interface for mac, but I can't just close the program, I have to close all the little window things, figure out how to open them again... I hate it.

I prefer MSPaint. :/

In an effort to get my creative juices a flowing, I've decided that drawing anything is better than nothing. Since I've been getting involved with :iconkyle-dove:'s (SHARED) project, kinda, it's gotten me excited about pokemon.

These are not new drawings mind you, I just never uploaded them. I have a few more to finish, and will soon upload them as well. Finishing my dex will at least give me some sense of accomplishment, so that's what I'm doing.

I'm trying to make a come-back. I've got various things I've been working on. I just cleared out my work-space, got my scanner and everything working, so I have no excuses at this point. I'll eventually upload some of the drawings I've been doing of friends doing PARKOUR. I've got a couple of REALLY cool ones, so I'm really excited to share those! I also have a tumblr, but haven't done much with it. Once I get some more stuff, I'll probably start uploading there as well! Hurray for networking.

Speaking of networking, by the end of the summer I plan to move. I'm open to suggestions, but I'm just looking for a young creative community. My first choice for a while was Seattle, but being sooo far from home, it just doesn't seem feasible with how little money I have, and though I was initially hesitant I'm looking at NYC or just outside it. If anyone's in the area, I may be looking for some people to split rent with, so let me know. ;D

Well, I think I'm finally feeling up to drawing again. I've been wanting to paint, been wanting to draw, but I've been so down lately. It just didn't feel as... good as it once did. But I'm ready to start 'trying' again.

So, I've mentioned this before, I think, but I plan to start a sketch book to compile poses and anatomical references for future work. Some friends have volunteered to let me draw them, but how that's gonna happen is still being figured out. OH! But the reason I even brought that up is so that I can share the drawings with you guys and hopefully build some sort of tutorial or 'how to' about figure drawing! :)

I still want to do my draw a day challenge, but... was thinking I need to approach it in a different direction. There's really no reason I shouldn't be able to draw once a day... period. But I haven't been drawing enough lately to competently start to start such an undertaking... I'm just plain out of practice. So I'm gonna practice a little more for the rest of december, then make it a new years resolution to draw every day. Even if it's just a doodle.

Point is, I need to work my ass off, and listen to my own sermon and draw EVERY day. I recently came across this guys' channel on Youtube [link] and his project to write a song/make a video EVERY day really stuck with me. The guy's been at this for far longer than the projects duration, as have I in terms of drawing. So, I'll do the same. Some times it may not be a 'new' drawing each day, as sometimes you need more than a day to make a good drawing, so hopefully I can commit myself to this project too.

... since I need to prepare myself for this... for the FIRST TIME EVER I'll be taking requests. Not yet, but since I realize I'm not yet ready for commissions (Again I'm rusty lol) I just need to draw. So why not have a small list of little doodles and drawings to work on when I otherwise have no real inspiration. Plus that'll get me drawing things I'm not used to. So, look forward to that. I'll make a journal that I'll update soon detailing requests. :)

ILUGAIS! It's been almost a month, and I still find myself crying over my cat. She left such a big hole in my life, but I have no choice but to press on with my life. Speaking of pressing on, I have a long term project I want to work on. No idea if it'll work, but my friend Tommy said he might be bale to help me with an animation for the following song. [link]
  • Mood: Distracted
So, I've probably done a total of 5/8 days. This time what's distracting me is a little more... real. I mentioned it in a deviation, but my cat has cancer. Her lymph nodes are swollen, and she has a tumor in her intestines. About a week ago she had 3 seizures in a week. She's 14 years old, and has lived in this house as long as we have. She's slowly fading, and the possibility of us needing to gently put her down is becoming a reality, and drawing has seemed far less... important for a while. I didn't want to bring this up so soon, but the guilt of not uploading/drawing is getting to me.

As much as I need order, I also need some time. So I may do it next month (Though that's unlikely since it'll be december with lots of overtime at work, but who knows) The point is to draw more often, which I'm doing, so come what may. Drawing hasn't felt all that important lately, even though now more than ever it's more important to draw, the pressure of daily deadlines probably isn't the best at this time.

So... I dunno, I'm probably imagining (as I often do) that you guys are disappointed with me, thought I know you aren't... I still feel all asdf for making promises then folding back on them. This is a time of learning and growing though, so mistakes are a part of that I suppose.

I have some neat stuff to upload soon, hopefully.
  • Mood: Distracted
I guess it's more or less a mission statement.

This is going to be a period of time in which I experiment a bit. Drawing stuff I typically don't, try new things, and learn to enjoy drawing in my free time again... but also forcing my hand a bit.

I've had to upload drawings the day after they've been made due to schedule related stuff, but I eventually plan to get back on track. There may be days I may not actually upload stuff, which isn't intentional, but the goal is to make something every day, even if it isn't uploaded immediately. This project is a bit selfish as it's mostly for me, but I want you guys who like my work to be able to enjoy it too.

That being said, I want to upload good work, work that I am proud to show. If I make something I don't like, I may not upload it at all. But that remains to be seen.

So, my mission is: To better myself over the next 30-summin' days. To get myself back in the habit of creating on a daily basis. To broaden my palette of tools so my work can be more varied. And to deliver to you, all my faithful watchers, something to reward you for sticking by me despite my year of absence.

Thanks again, and I'll work by best to deliver and followthrough with this goal... which will hopefully extend beyond November.

So, I finally have a job. I'm working at Kohl's Department Store, mostly doing Shoes. We're doing out orientation currently, and once my schedule is established I can figure out a nice schedule to take and finish commissions. The one I've started on has proven to be a major challenge, but am working it out, slower than I'd like to be. :/

But, that brings me to another note. Sunday morning, around 7am I was woken up by my parents that some idiot smashed the back end of my car during the night. The back left end of the car is complete smashed in the car is more or less totaled. Though unfortunate, it's being settled by insurance, and we found the car and person responsible within hours. It was scary. You feel so helpless.

But it's basically resolved. It's just disappointing that one girl's irresponsible actions are not depriving me of a reliable car that's gotten me around for at least 6 years. :/

R.I.P. Stuart. You'll always be momma's little boy.

So, look forward to uploads. I promise there will be some stuff to show soon!

ALSO YOU NEED TO WATCH THIS! IT'S BRILLIANT!
[link]

My friend tommy uploaded it a little under a week ago, and I wanted to post this, but didn't want to spam you guys until I had something more worthy to post a journal over.

We're hoping to do some videos together, including perhaps animation... so keep and eye out!

So, I'm starting to realize that, although I love colored pencils, I really want to branch out and use some different materials. I've been realizing that my reluctance to draw more often is coming from the attentiveness and time that it takes to use nicely, and it would be nice to also use some faster mediums here and there. As such, I may open up a specific commission option where you can request a certain material listed, with the knowledge it may not be of incredible quality, and it'll basically be little cheapo doodles, maybe 5 dollars?

I was thinking markers would be fun (in the past I used some) but to those who illustrate using markers, what kinds do you use? Do they blend well? TELL ME!

Experimenting with smaller watercolor things would be nice. I have pretty extensive experience with landscapes and architecture, but face less with objects and subject matter.

Even small sculptures I could do!

There's a lot. Collage, painting, scratch board... so we'll see how that goes, but if any of you use an off-kilter medium, let me know what you use, and I'd love to try my hand at it!

But yeah, I'll hopefully have some stuff to upload by the end of the week. :D

ALSO---{A Reminder}---

I mentioned that I'm trying to branch out from pokemon a few times, but don't for a minute let that discourage you from commissioning pokemon drawings. I really don't mind. I just like to have a variety too. :)

  • Reading: Nothing... yet.
So, I'm not sure on the particulars of this challenge, beyond doing a drawing every day for a month, but I'm thinking that exactly what I need to get back into the swing of things. A standard of practice that will get me back into my old habits of NEEDING to see something new being created every day!

So, by November I should have a job to keep me on task, and I can afford to begin using my free time in a guiltless manner, SO I will thus begin this in November!

Not buts! It's gonna happen! :D

P.S. if not the 30 day challenge, maybe I've do the 100 theme challenge to get me thinking about different things as I work toward my goal of building a portfolio for that Nickelodeon thing! :D

Till I develop a system, I will only take 1 person at a time, but will soon take 3 at once. Also, until I'm better acquainted with internets and money n such, I'll only be accepting commissions nationally. I'm sorry. :(

-{Guidelines}-----
All prices are set to their basic format, but are subject to increase or decrease depending on pre-specified factors. Amount of detail and complexity of request affect the price, while I may also be inclined to give discounts given material, but not upon request (so don't ask). I draw figures, and that can include nudes, but I will do nothing explicit or Something I deem inappropriate.

Should you wish to commission me, please send me a note and I will give you my email address. Most commission will be done within a weeks time, so please don't pester me until a week following the date of request.

-{Price List}-----
Expect an increase in price should extra material be required, or if you want the original shipped.

Pixel Art
-Sprites $3-$5
-Also do minecraft skins
-Bigger stuff $5-$15 (flexible)

Sketch (Shading is negotiable)
-Pencil Drawing: $10
-Refined inked drawing: $15
Concept design +10

Complete Drawing (Colored/Shaded)
-Characters:$20-$30 (I will charge more ($10?) for additional characters in a group)
-Complete Scene: Detail varying, a background will add an additional $10-$15
Concept design +10 (per character)

Painting
-Oil Painting (with reference) $50 per foot
-Oil Painting (No reference, I need to research stuff) $65 per foot

In Addition
If you have a request that does not meet this criteria, message me anyway, and we'll work something out. Ideally, I'd like if you could give me requests that go beyond fan-art/pokemon (but I'll still draw them), but I will certainly still do that kind of stuff. But I'd like to be challenged, so give me some cool stuff to work on! Also, at times I may decide the image needs something more, and may add a background or situation, and should I choose to embellish a drawing, I will not charge extra for it. Sometimes certain situations just call for it!

If you have questions about commission, ask them here. I don't want my inbox cluttered with questions about commissions, so if you have an solid idea for what you'd like done send me a note with the title being "Commission" so I know you've read this far. Also, if you see the waiting list is full, don't send me a note, as I will ignore it.

-{Note}-----
My prices may seem a tad steep to some, but understand, this is traditional media. The reserves are finite, and unlike digital images, I need to restock on material. So, thanks. :)
So I think it's safe to say I'm back in business... or just in business. I checked with my bank, seems there shouldn't be any problems with Paypal as long as a monitor it carefully, and my scanner is officially operational! So exciting!

I have a backlog of stuff you guys need to see. New watchers, bear with me, there's a lot of old comment you may not find appealing, but my loyal fans who've watched me for so long have really been owed this! I have a bunch of fakemon drawings to upload, and more to finish (since without a working scanner it was hard to work up the ambition to finish them).

SO... I'd say by next week I'll be opening myself up to commissions. I just gotta be sure I complete and submit a few job applications before I can allow myself to be distracted... Also, to make sense of things, I'll probably get myself a membership. So those of you want to commission me, get to thinking what you'd like me to have me do for you. I'll have prices worked out by then and we should be good to go. For my own sanity I will take no more than three commissions at a time, but I feel 3 would be a good number, as it allows me to work on something else should I find myself getting frustrated on a certain project.

SO. My friends, my peers, and my watchers, thanks for your patience. Though I've been on the site on an average of at least 1 time a day, I guess I can admit that I wasn't really 'here'... so as much as it may bug me to see comments saying 'You're back!" you haven't been entirely wrong to say so. :iconohyouplz:

So, in preparation for that Nickelodeon Fellowship thing I mentioned somewhere in since yesterday, I gotta beef up a more relevant portfolio for this position, and since I'm out of practice anyway and could use the money, I'm gonna start commissions for realz now, and I finally made my paypal account.

So, I'll be spending the next couple days planning and finalizing a pricing rubric, rules, and constructing an official FAQ section... maybe even buying a premi- and we'll be open for business! I may even mail the originals to people should they request it (but that will definitely add to the price) But, stay tuned for that. I'm excited for the variety of things my new and old followers will request in the process.

Though, as should be quite clear, I will not be taking requests... never have, probably never will unless I make special note of it. But, feel free to make suggestions, I'm probably making ab igger deal out of this than need be, haha! xD

So, I'm looking into getting a paypal account, and figured it would be to my benefit to actually look over the terms of service. It seems that you can be penalized (I think by account closing) for use in exchange for goods or services. I know many people on this site who use paypal as a mediator for transactions and payments for art.. so, does that not fall under the aforementioned conditions, or is it under a different 'type' of account?

I saw there were three types; personal, premier, and business. I felt premier was the best suit, since you could send and receive money, but that little hitch got me concerned. If I want to use paypal to exchange artwork for money, does it need to be with paypal? Go I need to have a 'group' or 'company' to do this sort of thing?

Those who use paypal, if you could help me out here, it'd be greatly appreciated. Also, if you use an alternative method of exchanging money that is secure and safe, well that works to. I've recently started online banking, so I suppose that could be done as well, and I could accept money via check, but uhh... yeah, still, answers pl0x!

So, I now have a paypal account, I think a lot of the original problem I has was just due to misinterpretation. In regards to payment, is it just a matter of giving them your name/email, or do they have to have the link to your account?

I have a back log of pics to upload, but no 'good' way to upload them. I don't trust my scanner (because it's not working) and I don't have a decent correction software (well kinda) to adjust them. If I made the choice, I'd like to avoid uploading photo's of them, but if you guys really want to see some of my stuff I could upload it anyway via camera.

SO, lemme know what you guys would like to see. ;)

I have no idea.

Lot of stuff going on, yet not really anything. Saw Mumford & Sons on Tuesday. Blew my Socks off. It was stellar, and they did not disappoint me! SO consistent, so brilliant!

I guess I'll start with Avatar Korra. Love. Lots. Watching the finale to Korra sparked something in me. The next day at work I was doodling the characters and realized something. That's what's motivated me to draw for ever. For. Ever. Though I love what I went to school for, it's enriched me in so many ways... I think I'm gonna continue in Illustration or perhaps even animation. My goal, I think, will be to attempt to get involved with the avatar series. Having no experience, that's really just a dream, but I really really... want to!

So we'll see.

Also, since I don't think I've confessed this on DA yet. I am OBSESSED with Minecraft. It's bad. Real bad. I've been addicted since March. It seriously threatened my graduate work. Bad. And I've been playing all summer. I need to stop, and it seems more real than ever before since I'm getting bored... but in direct conflict with that statement, does anyone play on any good servers?

The usual server I play on is with a bunch of irl friends which was fun, but I realize none of them really puts the same amount of effort and (obsession) into what they make, so I don't feel the stimulation I desire when building in multiplayer. I want some creative influences, and even competition, but I want a good server to do that. I played on another one that was fun, it was a creative server (a mode which I never found to be of much interest) but then with 1.3 they changed it to survival factions... and I'm jus not into it. So if anyone can suggest me to some fun servers, creative or survival, that focus on fun and creative builds... please let me know.

Um, yeah. For the immediate future, since I still need time to put my life together, I may be lifeguarding for Disney Cruise Lines, on a private island in the Bahamas. So, that's pretty exciting, eh?
