These are again, some of my older designs. I originally designed them probably my junior or senior year of high school, but oddly enough never uploaded them. Their designs were originally intended to be simple dancers, but after a while, they were birthed into ice skaters, or specifically water skaters.
SLIPNIT-normal/flying-KLUTZ
He's based on the ugly duckling, and I channeled that into him being utterly helpless in terms of 'grace'. His name comes from Slip (originally trip) and Sygnet (baby swan)
"It's large feet allow for quick maneuvering in the water, but render it awkward and clumsy on land. It is thus disregarded by other pokemon, but widely popular amongst young children."
---[EVOLVES: by learning aerial ace]---
FOWLET-fighting/flying-SPEED BOOST
FOWLET is the male evolution, he is essentially based on a speed skater, while still being paired with the dancing theme. Though the name itself is slightly irrelevant but still remains. It comes from FOWL as in waterFOWL and then balLET. So it's pronounced FOW-LAY
"As a result of it's eagerness to prove itself as a SLIPNIT it's become an aggressive athlete. Quick on water and ice, it propels itself with powerful wingbeats and slicing kicks."
DANSWAN-fighting/flying-SPEEDBOOST
The female embodiments, based on a figure skater, which I don't meant to imply is only for women, but suits the gender split. DANce SWAN.
"Though far more docile than it's male counterpart, DANSWAN it a highly skilled dancer. They choose their partners if and only if their displays effortlessly synchronize."
So yeah, enjoy, I'm also working on their sprites, and am attempting to use FOWLET as the subject of a spriting tutorial.
I love the way how Fowlet and Danswan's body shapes are identical yet their feather and color directions are vastly different from each other due to their genders. This screams really creative. Amazing work!
I use Prang colored pencils, but that's really it for these. I use my eraser probably as much as my pencils. I use it to soften transitions between colors, but also just on the colors themselves to soften them.
also what colours do you use
do you just use normal pencil crayons or do you use something else?
