i've been turning over what pokemon to do, and was thinking aipom, but then realized that ludicolo was the right choice when i all of a sudden got an image of a swamp beast type ludicolo in my head... and htis came out almost exactly as i envisioned it...

i was gonna color it, but i liked how it was coming out with pencil, plus i hadn't shaded with just mechanical pencils in a long time, so it just felt right!

i might recolor it using photoshop to show where i thought the colors would be!

I love it! However, I think you'd stand a better chance in the contest if maybe you made it appear that the grass is more coming out of the hat. The way it looks now looks more like it was tacked on there.

Besides that, I love it. I saw him and immediately recognized Ludicolo! Great job!

No but seriously, that's good work. You can instantly tell it's ludicolo, but it doesn't have that jumpy happy look that pokemon often have. Good job again.

I imagined this breaking out in a samba dance and that made me break out into a smile.

The angle of the lilypad sombrero is particularly fascinating, it almost gives it a desperado look.

If you're talking about the shoots growing out of the middle, I think they're growing out of a tuber/radish (it's a pineapple in the regular sprites) on the head. The fact they're "tacked" on is natural.
